Wales v Belgium – Betting Tips

The second game of the quarter-final stage pits overachievers Wales against usual underachievers Belgium.

The Welsh have done tremendously well to get to the quarter-final stage and will be very happy with their performances so far. The previous game against fellow Home Nation Northern Ireland was a very close game that Wales eventually won due to a Gareth McAuley own goal. I personally think Wales struggled with being the favourites in that game and were clearly not comfortable being the aggressors and being open to counter attacks which they do so well against other teams and will certainly deploy against Belgium.

Speaking of Belgium, these guys seem to turn up on one day and completely blow a team away and then turn up the next and only just manage to scrape through. Which Belgium will turn up against Wales? I’m expecting it to be the first one as they seem to have hit their stride quite well in the last few games and they should be able to see off the Welsh challenge and send them packing. They will be really disappointed if they don’t consider the quality they have available. Outright Winner – Belgium

The Belgians have an amazing squad that hasn’t always reached expectations however, now that their star players such as Hazard, Lukaku and Courtois are now a little bit older and more experienced, they seem to be a lot more professional in what they do and they should continue that vein against Wales here. Wales can be very proud of how far they have come but Belgium should see them off comfortably.

Both Teams to Score – No

Belgium should definitely score, there isn’t much question about that however, I’m not sure Wales will be able to break Belgium down in this game. I know they have the quality of Gareth Bale from open play and set pieces but I think the lack of quality of the other players in the squad will begin to show here and Bale won’t be able to salvage it alone.

Correct Score – Wales 0 – 2 Belgium

I fancy Belgium to score a couple of goals against Wales and maybe even more. Due to the fact that you don’t know which Belgium team will turn up, I’m going to go for 2-0 to Marc Wilmots’ side. Wales will give it a damn good go but I fear it will not be enough and they will be going home.

First Goal Scorer – Romelu Lukaku

We got a glimpse of Lukaku’s quality in the second half of the Republic of Ireland game where he was just scintillating. I admit he has gone a little quiet since but he is a predatory goal scorer who only needs once chance to find the back of the net. If he is given any space in the Welsh box, expect him to punish them swiftly and effectively. This guy knows where the net is and Ashley Williams, James Chester and Ben Davies will have to work together to make sure he doesn’t find space in the box.
