Tottenham’s emphatic win on Monday night saw them close the gap to just five points, with four games to play, in the race for the Premier League title.
Going into the match one predicted a tough night at the potteries for Spurs, however it proved a comprehensive 4 nil win on the night, which has piled pressure back onto Leicester City. With four games to play anything is still possible in the title race, as Manchester City proved when they overcame a similar deficit a few seasons back to pip Liverpool to the title. The next match day is pivotal in the title run in, with Spurs hosting West Brom at home, and Leicester playing against Swansea City. In truth this is a must win game for Leicester, as I see them dropping a few points along the way in their final league matches to Everton, Manchester United and Chelsea.
Chelsea will play an influential role in the title race, as both Spurs and Leicester have to play away at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea’s win away to Liverpool handed Manchester City an advantage in the title race a few seasons back, and one feels that they could be just as important for both teams fighting for the league.
It will be very intriguing to see how these final few games pan out, it has been an exciting Topsy-turvy season, and it seems like the finale could be well worth the wait.
