According to a France Football magazine report, Lionel Messi has kept his status as the world’s highest paid footballer. Earning 74 million euros ($84.3 million, £59.3 million) per year, Messi earned the highest amount of money compared to any other footballer in 2015.
In the same standings as the final 2015 Ballon d’Or top three, Cristiano Ronaldo earned roughly 7m euros less than Messi (67.4m euros) with Neymar in third place with an annual earning of 43.5m euros – leaving the top three highest paid footballers unchanged for the third year in a row.
The estimates of the income were based on players’ pre-tax salaries, sponsorship revenues and various bonuses according to France Football magazine.
Leo Messi won his FIFTH Ballon d’Or trophy in January this year, which argues that he should be the highest paid footballer in the world. However, it could be argued that the wages that footballers are on are too high.
