“The Krusher” Sergey Kovalev is intent on silencing Jean Pascal when the pair meet again in the ring early next year.
The WBA, WBO and IBF light-heavyweight champion is currently in training camp ahead of their rematch in Montreal, Canada, on January 30.
Kovalev (28-0-1-KO25) who previously stopped Pascal last time out in eight rounds in March was so annoyed by his rival’s words before, during and after the fight that he has now vowed to do an even better demolition job this time round.
The Florida-based Russian has been quoted as saying “He is not ready to fight in my hometown and I don’t have a choice, because I want to kick his a**.
“I will show all his Canadian fans that he is just a trash-talker
“I don’t respect him. Everybody saw the last press conference, the weigh-in and the fight itself and boxers shouldn’t do it how he did it.
“He said ‘I will, I will, I will’ but what did he do? He is just a trash-talker.”
Pascal who boasts a record of (30-3-1-KO17) is the latest fighter in the pro ranks to switch to legendary trainer Freddie Roach as he aims settle the score with Kovalev and hand him his first defeat.
However, Kovalev who is training at Big Bear, California, not only doubts it will make a difference but has promised to be in better condition himself.
The Russian went onto say “If somebody right now comes into my training camp, nobody will change me – I don’t know about him,” he said.
“Maybe he will get something new and I will be interested in what he brings, and how he wants to get the victory over me
“But it’s great motivation for me. He’s got a new trainer or coach, so he should have something new for me.”
