Now, it’s unheard of for squad numbers to be changed in mid-season, and most of us can put it down to a mix up in the changing room and the kit man receiving his P45 tomorrow morning.
But is it enough to entice further speculation surrounding a potentially vacant number 10 shirt? Probably not.
Arsenal have been linked to Lionel Messi recently, which most of us shrug off without really dwelling on. Most of us also are aware that Messi does wear the number 10 shirt.
Can we put two and two together and laugh in the face of Sherlock Holmes? Have Arsenal taken Jack’s number 10 shirt away from him in order to accommodate THE Lionel Messi? Or is it a slow day here at the office?
This isn’t the first time Lionel Messi has been linked to Arsenal. With reports that Barcelona’s number 10 had asked Cesc Fábregas whether or not Arsenal is a good place to go.
It’s more than likely that a summer swoop won’t be made by Arsenal, and as always the story is over blown.
Maybe Jack’s inability to recognize his own squad number will prove to enhance rumors, and leave Arsenal fans clutching at straws to find any substance for these reports.
