Everton v Crystal Palace preview

Tonight’s Monday night football sees an in-form Everton side face a Crystal Palace side who have been superb away from home this season.

Everton go into the game having only lost to Manchester United and Manchester City at home this season while Palace have won four of their six away Premier League games away from Selhurst Park.

In fact, Alan Pardew’s side have picked up more points on their travels so far this season and have a resilient defence to boast having conceded on average one goal per game. Only Manchester United, Arsenal and Spurs have tighter defences.

However the game will be a test for Palace’s defence as Roberto Martinez’s side certainly know where the goal is. They have scored 14 goals in their last four league matches with striker Romelu Lukaku scoring eight goals in his last eight games.

Only Tottenham (8) have drawn more games than Everton (6) so far this season while Palace have drawn the least (1) in the Premier League.

Crystal Palace have been victorious on three of their last four visits to Goodison Park. Another defeat for Everton would leave the Toffees in a sticky situation and four points behind Palace in the table.

However a third successive home league win will see Everton climb five places into 6th.

Winger Wilfried Zaha is suspended having picked up five yellow cards while Everton midfielder James McCarthy faces a late fitness test his hip which forced him out of Everton’s cup win at Middlesbrough last week.

Bakary Sako is also unavailable because of a hamstring injury.
